Most training routines designed to target your lower back muscles are far from safe. Goodmornings–the exercise where you place a barbell across the shoulders and back of the neck and then with legs locked bend at the waist down to a piked position and then return–is one method of lower back training that became notoriously famous as the exercise by which Bruce Lee injured his lower back. In that exercise alone the movement of the hips and the unpredictability of having unsecured weight on the top of your spine are a combination for disaster. That is unfortunately the story for many lower back exercises. The trunk extension by RenEx is extremely safe and highly effective, locking you in so that your lower back muscles are safely targeted throughout a complete range of motion.
