What is Intense 22 Fitness?

How is 22 minutes, two times per week enough exercise for me to achieve optimal health?
Using the Renaissance Exercise Protocol, including specially designed, hand built equipment, we efficiently train your muscles, taking them to the exact point necessary for the bodies adaptive processes to be activated. The workout period is intense and therefore short. Once the benefits of true exercise are achieved, it then takes two to four days for sufficient recovery. Twice per week is more than enough for optimal health. (In fact, those who have become highly proficient using the system only have to workout once per week because of the level of intensity and their understanding of muscle fatigue.)
Is it true that “cardio” or “aerobic” training is not necessary if I follow the Intense 22 Fitness training system?
Yes! The Intense 22 Fitness system is both anaerobic and aerobic. The cardiovascular system is the source of fuel for your musculature. When we take your muscles to the level that we do your cardiovascular system is equally benefited as it too must adapt. (Note: Although I22F training provides all the health benefits of “cardio”, it doesn’t take the place of technique training which is required for your sport or recreation of choice.)
Why is the temperature kept to 62 degrees in the workout area? (Why no sweat?)
When you begin to overheat your bodies response is to sweat. Sweating is not necessary to get a good workout and in fact the less functions the body has to perform, such as cooling itself down, the more efficient the exercise can be. In all actuality, you are still sweating! Our environment just causes the sweat to continually evaporate off of your skin so that it doesn’t pool and lead to overheating. In addition, the lack of sweat keeps our workout area clinical (safe, smell and distraction free, etc.) and gives you the option of coming in on your lunch break and working out in your suit if you want to. Will I get bulky doing this type of training?
No. If by bulky it is meant “big muscles,” then there are two things that will make you “bulky: genetics and nutrition. If genetically you are not predisposed to gaining large muscles you simply will not be able to do so naturally. Typically, women for example, are not genetically predisposed to gaining muscle mass and no matter how strong they get it is unlikely they will get bulky. Another way to get bulky is by consuming an excess of bad calories or by using specifically designed supplements. With our nutritional tools we will help you in the nutrition area so that you can get all of the good calories and avoid the bad ones that make you fat.
What makes it so safe?
The research study from which the Intense 22 Fitness system was born was designed for the benefit of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. The method and machines were therefore designed with safety in mind and are even beneficial for injury rehabilitation. You will be instructed through each and every movement to insure that it is being done at the proper speed and with excellent form. What is inroading and muscle fatigue?
Inroading is the object of true exercise. Efficient inroading results in momentary muscle fatigue or failure. Our goal is to load your muscle and keep it loaded until thorough inroading is achieved. Inroading is the optimal point at which the bodies’ adaptive processes are triggered resulting in muscle growth and improved cardiovascular fitness. One of the things that sets Intense 22 Fitness apart is that we do not over-train your body, taking it only through the necessary process for all of the benefits of exercise to be triggered.
What role does nutrition play?
Nutrition is king when it comes to fitness and health. You can train diligently using the Intense 22 Fitness system and still fall drastically short of your potential if your nutrition is not on par. We offer you multiple tools to address the nutritional aspect of the equation. Our health coach will help you make better choices and discover deficiencies in your diet and allow you to harness the power of accountability. Can’t I just do this stuff on my own? (Do I really need a personal trainer?)
Yes you do need a personal trainer for the Intense 22 Fitness system. Only a handful of other facilities in the world utilize the same equipment that we do. Our protocol which stems directly from a scientific research study is very specific and requires a highly trained staff. In addition, the nature of the Intense 22 Fitness system is such that it is almost impossible to maintain proper form, motivation and focus without the direct guidance of a personal fitness trainer.
